Terms of Service.
Effective 2026-05-26
The rules of the road for using Adhyatm: what we promise, what we don't, and what we ask of you. Written to be read, not skimmed.
1 · You're agreeing to these terms.
By creating an account, opening the app, or visiting this website, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Adhyatm.
2 · Who we are.
Adhyatm is a project operated by Shubham Kumar, a sole proprietor in Kolkata, India. "Adhyatm," "we," "us," and "our" mean that project. "You" and "your" mean you.
3 · What Adhyatm is.
Adhyatm is a companion app for sitting with what is on your mind, grounded in the spiritual literature of the Indian subcontinent. It ships with two surfaces:
- Darpan: a private conversation with a mirror-voice. You speak or type what is present. At session close, the mirror hands you a verse and a reflection composed from a corpus of public-domain texts.
- Vyom: an anonymous one-way share. You release a short message into the dark; it is read by one other Adhyatm user, then deleted after 24 hours. No replies. No identities.
The app is in early beta. Surfaces may change. Bugs will happen. Use it accordingly.
4 · Eligibility.
You must be at least 18 years old to use Adhyatm. We do not knowingly accept users under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and discover that your child has signed up, write to us at support@adhyatm.co and we will delete the account.
5 · Your account.
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in device secure and for everything that happens under your account. If you believe someone has accessed your account without permission, tell us right away so we can lock it down.
We may suspend or close an account that we reasonably believe is being used to harm other users (see § 7) or to circumvent rate limits, payment, or the integrity of the system.
6 · Your content.
Your content stays yours.
Anything you write or speak inside Adhyatm (Darpan transcripts, Vyom releases, profile fields) is yours. We claim no ownership.
The license you grant us.
To run the product, we need a small, specific license: the right to store your content, process it through the retrieval and composition pipeline described in our Privacy Policy, show it back to you, and (in the case of Vyom releases only) show it anonymously to one other user during the 24-hour TTL. This license is non-exclusive, royalty-free, and limited to operating Adhyatm. It ends when your content is deleted.
What the mirror writes back to you.
The reflection and verse the mirror composes at session close are yours to read, keep, and share, including with attribution to Adhyatm and to the source text. The underlying verses are public-domain. The composed reading is ours; you may share it freely with attribution to Adhyatm.
7 · Acceptable use.
Adhyatm is a place to bring what you carry, not a place to aim at someone. You agree not to use Adhyatm to:
- Threaten, harass, or harm another person, yourself or anyone else. (If you are in danger, see § 8.)
- Post in Vyom anything that names, identifies, or could reasonably identify another private person, or any content that is illegal where you are. Vyom is for what you carry, not for releasing things about someone else.
- Attempt to share contact information through Vyom or to arrange off-platform contact with other Adhyatm users. (Future-Duniya will have a deliberate path for this; Vyom does not.)
- Use Adhyatm in any way that interferes with other users' ability to use it: spam, scraping, automation, denial-of-service, or trying to overwhelm the rate limits or the queue.
- Reverse-engineer the app, the retrieval system, or the composition pipeline, or use them to train another model. (If you are a researcher and want to study Adhyatm with our cooperation, write to us.)
If you do any of these things, we may suspend or close your account, remove the content, and, where appropriate, cooperate with law enforcement. Repeated or severe violations will get you a permanent ban.
8 · This is not a medical or clinical service.
Adhyatm is a companion, not a clinician, therapist, doctor, or counselor. The reflections and verses it gives you are drawn from literature; they are not medical advice, mental health treatment, diagnosis, or therapy. Do not rely on Adhyatm for clinical decisions.
If you are in crisis or considering self-harm, please reach out to a qualified human. In India, you can call:
- iCall — 9152987821 (Monday–Saturday, 8am–10pm IST). Free, confidential, in multiple Indian languages.
- Vandrevala Foundation — 18602662345 or 18002333330. 24/7, free.
Outside India, please use your local equivalent. We do our best to surface these helplines inside the app when our safety classifier picks up signs of crisis, but the classifier can be wrong; you should reach out whenever you need to, not when the app prompts you.
Adhyatm is also not a religious authority. We draw from ancient wisdom literature, but the practice we ask of you is to listen and reflect, not to adopt or affiliate.
9 · The library and intellectual property.
The verses Adhyatm hands you are drawn from public-domain critical editions of the source texts. We claim no rights to them. The English readings, the reflection questions, the way the texts are presented, the app's design, code, and brand — those are ours, and protected by copyright and trademark.
You may share verses you receive, with attribution to the source text. You may screenshot and share your composed reading, with attribution to Adhyatm. You may not republish our compositions as your own, or use our trademark to imply endorsement.
10 · Service availability.
Adhyatm is in beta. We do not promise uptime, performance, or that any specific feature will keep working the way it works today. We will try our best, and we will tell you when something is broken.
We may take Adhyatm down for maintenance, change features, add features, or remove features. We will give you notice for anything material; we will not give you notice for routine maintenance.
11 · Termination.
You can close your account at any time from Profile → Account → Delete. We will delete your data per § 6 of the Privacy Policy.
We may close your account if you violate these terms, if you abuse the system, or if continuing to provide the service to you exposes us or other users to harm or legal risk. We will give you the reason where we can.
12 · Disclaimers.
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Adhyatm is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind: express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any verse you receive will be the right one for your moment.
Nothing in these terms excludes any warranty or liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer-protection law.
13 · Limitation of liability.
To the maximum extent allowed by law, neither Adhyatm nor Shubham Kumar will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or reputation, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Adhyatm.
Our total liability to you for all claims arising from or relating to these terms or Adhyatm will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) ₹2,000.
Where the law in your jurisdiction doesn't allow these limitations, the law in your jurisdiction wins.
14 · Indemnity.
If something you do on Adhyatm causes a third party to sue us, for instance because you post content that violates someone's rights, or use Adhyatm in a way that harms another person, you agree to defend and indemnify us against that claim, including reasonable legal fees.
15 · Governing law and disputes.
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Adhyatm will be handled in the courts of Kolkata, West Bengal, India, and you and we both consent to that.
Before any formal dispute, please write to us at support@adhyatm.co first. We would rather understand the problem than litigate it.
16 · Changes.
We may update these terms from time to time. For material changes, we will email you (if you have a subscribed email) and post a notice in the app. The effective date at the top of this page tells you which version you are reading. Continuing to use Adhyatm after a material change means you accept the new terms.
17 · Contact.
Questions, concerns, complaints, polite suggestions, or things you would like us to know: write to support@adhyatm.co. A real person reads everything that arrives there.
